FAQ

EVERYTHING YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT bixbi BIKES

This isn't a race bike, it's for kids! Why is light weight so important?

Let’s do some simple math. Say the average run bike weighs 11 pounds and the average 3 year old tips the scales at about 35 pounds. As a 180 pound adult, that is the equivalent of trying to wrangle a 57 pound bike - without being able to use pedals. bixbi bikes are constructed from 6061 alloy which is commonly used in high quality road and mountain bike frames due to its light weight and durability.

I just ordered a bixbi from your online store. When will it arrive?

Your bixbi should arrive within 5-7 business days from the confirmed order payment date.

Will there be any duty/import fees on the bixbi I ordered?

Unless otherwise specified, we ship all our items from our logistics center in Taiwan.  Import duties, taxes and other country specific charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost.  These charges are the buyer's responsibility and if there are any such charges, the buyer will have to pay upon receipt of goods.  Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs may be prior to ordering.

Why is there no wheel lock on Bixbi run bikes?

At bixbi, we believe a run bike is a teaching tool. Wheel locks prevent the front wheel from spinning around, possibly avoiding a fall, however they do not teach the young rider about front wheel control, meaning that when they graduate to their next bike, they will have to learn how to control their front wheel when they are higher above the ground and moving faster.

Why no brakes?

Part of the design philosophy behind the Route 12 is simplicity.  Brakes add one more distraction to the equation of learning to properly handle a bike - steering, balance, coordination.

Why do bixbi bikes cost more than other run bikes?

Quite simply, the main reason for the cost of the bixbi Route 12 is its light weight, design and quality components.  We haven't cut corners - we've built the bike that we want our kids to ride and made the bike we'd ride if we were 3 feet tall.

Why are pneumatic rubber tires so much better than the solid foam tires on other run bikes?

Rubber tires provide better traction on all surfaces, will last much longer than foam tires, and also provide a more comfortable ride.

Where are bixbi bikes made?

bixbi bikes are produced at a high quality facility in Taiwan that manufactures many bicycle brands you would see in your favorite local shop.

Is bixbi a Canadian company?

Yes. The bixbi brand was created by a couple of Canadians in the bike industry who were seeking to create the absolute best run bike not only for their kids but for all kids.

The bixbi I ordered arrived in a box. Do I have to be a bike mechanic to put it together properly?

No. We promise it's very easy: simply slide the front wheel on the fork, insert the seat post, and bolt on the handlebar. It takes about three minutes and the two tools you need are included in the box.
